Class 11.27.18

My reaction (Pirates of Caribbean): This ride focused much more on the use of screens for the storytelling and was a completely different experience than the Orlando and Anaheim rides. It felt much more immersive and was focused on the plot of the movies, while the original Pirates ride was later converted to reflect the movies. The combination of set and screens led the viewer through the plot and made it feel much grander. Even without being able to understand what the characters were saying I could decipher the overall theme and storyline quite easily through visual cues. What connections did I make with the work I just viewed?: Initially, I was expecting to feel a connection to the rides in the United States, though this ride had a much more modern day feel to it. Even though the old rides have been updated, they still have a nostalgic quality to them that reflects the original Pirate ride. This experience with its use of large screens for interaction reminded me of many Univ

Wakanda Proposal

Our park concept is centered on the sacred conservation of Wakanda. It is focused on its land, resources, and people. Our photogenic, iconic center point will be the Warrior Falls (the main waterfall and high peak point). At this point, there will be scheduled shows and live performances that draw people towards the center of the park. The park splits off into the different nature regions of Wakanda’s landscape. This includes the Torment forest, Farmland, Black Warrior Creek, Twisted Visions lake, River settlement, and Central Wakanda (palace, etc). The resource of vibranium is a central theme throughout the different areas of the park. Vibranium - the fictional metal - has mystical energies and we will enhance this concept visually throughout the park decor. This will tie the different areas together through the sacred reverence of the resource. Another main attraction will also include the Shuri’s underground lab. The underground lab will be one of the defining rides of our park. We

Planet Skin and Panorama

Image
This planet has many rivers and swamp lands, with a large ocean that keeps the humidity high. The air is typically hot and thick, with the cool areas resigned to the rich. the rest of the population takes to tunnel civilizations underground. Outsiders attempt to live in the tropics in the trees, though it is dangerous and oftentimes unsuccessful.

My Planet

A planet I would like to build is one filled Tropical landscapes. The flora influences the fauna of this world, and to the untrained eye, they blend in seamlessly. The air is thick and humid, and the life on this planet build underground to seek a cool place to sleep. Their colonies are vast and similar to ant farms. The Crust of this planet is much larger than our own, allowing these life forms to grow underground much farther down than we have been able to. Their soil is moist as a product of the humidity and makes it much more malleable for expansion. Some who prefer the heat attempt to build up, into the lush trees and bark. These colonies are few and far between, however, as most spend limited time on the surface, just for gathering supplies or other duties.

My Character Butch

Image
Butch Bronson is an Angry, cold guy that shuts people out. Because of this, he is actually very lonely. However, his fear of loneliness leads him to be selfish and look out only for himself... Something Butch might say is "The world is a sham and so is everyone in it!" Though, something Butch might do is stand at the edge of a lively group wishing to join in on the fun, Yet something Butch wears is a pair of headphones to block people out the noise and look disinterested. Butch lives in a large house that was passed down from his mother, just outside of town, where he has grown large lush plants that encompass it almost entirely.  Butch opens his door and looks east, past the large looming foliage around him, at a road that leads to the town square. People laugh and sing here in their community, and Butch longs to be a part of it. To the south, there is a large wood, filled with foliage and branches that Butch uses to populate his yard. He spends his da
